How To Have A Great Summer
As we head into the summer months, I wanted to take a moment to share something that's been on my heart.
You know, summer is a unique season. The rhythms of life change. Kids and students are out of school, vacations are happening, and there's just a different pace to things. In the midst of all that, it can be easy to just coast through these months without much intentionality. But I believe God has so much more for us than that.
The truth is, every season is an opportunity to grow, to dream, and to align ourselves with God's purposes. That's why, for years, my family and I have taken time at the beginning of each new season to seek God, to listen for His voice, and to set our course according to His leadership. It's a practice that has transformed our lives and our ministry in profound ways.
And that's what I want to invite you into today. I've put together a resource called "Roles and Goals" that I believe can help you make the most of this summer. It's a simple but powerful tool for discerning God's heart for this season of your life.
The concept is rooted in Scripture. We see it in Habakkuk 2:2, where God tells the prophet, "Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it." There's power in prayerfully seeking God's vision and writing it down. It brings clarity, focus, and accountability.
The "Roles and Goals" exercise walks you through this process. First, it invites you to consider any specific words or Scriptures God has been highlighting to you about the season ahead. Then, it guides you in thinking through the key roles you have in life - things like your role as a child of God, a spouse, a parent, a church member, a friend - and identifying specific Scriptures to anchor you in each of those roles.
From there, you'll prayerfully consider goals for the summer in areas like your spiritual life, your physical health, your relationships, your work, and your finances. And lastly, you'll get practical about how these things need to shape your daily, weekly, and monthly rhythms.
Starting each season with this simple exercise has helped me stay rooted in God's Word, sensitive to His Spirit, and intentional about the things that matter most. And I've seen it bear incredible fruit - in my walk with Jesus, in my marriage and family, in my ministry, and in every area of life.
So here's my challenge to you: don't let this summer just happen to you. Take hold of it with intentionality. Seek God's heart, listen for His voice, and align your life with His purposes. And use this "Roles and Goals" resource to guide you in the process.
I'm telling you, it has the potential to transform your summer. Instead of just drifting through, you'll be anchored in God's Word, empowered by His Spirit, and on mission for His purposes. You'll look back on this summer and see tangible growth, precious memories, and eternal impact.
So download the "Roles and Goals" PDF, set aside some unhurried time with Jesus, and dive in. Invite your spouse, your family, or your friends to do it with you. And watch what God does as you surrender this summer to Him.
I'm praying for you, cheering you on, and believing with you for a summer marked by the goodness, the power, and the presence of God. Let's do this!
